The Lewis County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) is seeking a volunteer to serve on the Lewis County Civil Service Commission.The Civil Service Commission’s duties include the following:Assist, as needed, in determining the annual budget.Volunteer, as needed, to attend testing and other opportunities that may arise.Maintain and approve Civil Service rules in compliance with state law.Provide for, formulate and hold competitive tests to determine the relative qualifications of persons who seek employment and establish eligibility lists.Hear and determine appeals or complaints regarding Civil Service examinations and certain other employment actions.The three-member commission meets at 11:30 a.m. the second Wednesday of …

K-9 Narcotics Sniff Leads to Arrest
On 06-01-2024, at approximately 9:21 p.m., deputies with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop in the 400 block of State Route 505, Winlock. Deputy Kasinger and his K-9 partner Kimbo were requested to respond to the scene for a narcotics sniff, and upon being deployed K-9 Kimbo alerted on the vehicle. A search warrant was applied for and granted, resulting in the recovery of over 41 grams of methamphetamine and a meth pipe. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody.
