1. Sensitive Document Shredding offered at Repair Fair in Morton

    Residents may bring up to 5 bags or boxes or sensitive documents they would like to have shredded. There is no charge for this service. The shredded paper will be recycled after the event at a paper recycling facility. The event will be offered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. as part of the Repair & Sustainability Fair at the Morton Senior Center, 103 Westlake Ave., Morton, WA 98356.

  2. Unwanted chemicals can be turned in today in Morton

    Residents may drop of household hazardous waste for free from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the East Lewis County Transfer Station, 6745 U.S. Hwy 12, just east of Morton. Examples of household hazardous materials that can be dropped off are cleaners, lawn, garden, and pool chemicals.     The LeMay Mobile Shredding truck will be at the Community Recycle Event at the old Meskill Drop Box, 3127 State Route 6, Chehalis, across from the River Road in the Doty-Dryad area 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents may bring up to 3 bags or boxes or sensitive documents they would like to have shredded. There is no charge for this service. The shredded paper will be hauled to a paper recycling facility for processing.

    Know Your Soil and How to Improve it with Compost!: Attend this WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter workshop at 11 a.m. Feb. 21 at the Centralia Timberland Library to learn how to test your soil.
