County seeks applicants for Public Health & Social Services Advisory Board
The Lewis County Board of Health (BOH) is accepting applications from Lewis County residents interested in serving on the Lewis County Public Health & Social Services (PHSS) Advisory Board. Applications are due by 3:00 pm on Friday, January 30.The thirteen-member volunteer board provides recommendations to the Board of Health on a variety of community health, environmental health, and social service issues. Three positions are currently open: one tribal member representative, one first responder representative, and one law enforcement representative.PHSS Advisory Board members are appointed by the BOH and serve three-year terms. The Lewis County Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Plan, a document required by Washington State law, RCW 70A.205.040. The law mandates each county prepare a comprehensive solid waste management plan, and update it periodically, is nearing its current update phase. With collaboration from the Lewis County Solid Waste Advisory Committee -- an advisory group to the Lewis County Commissioners, each city within Lewis County, and a consulting team from Herrera Environmental, the Lewis County Solid Waste Utility has completed a draft update of the Lewis County Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Plan. The Planned Growth Committee (PGC) is made up of the Mayor, or their designee, from each city in Lewis County and the Chair of the Board of County Commissioners. Purpose The Planning Commission assists the Community Development department in carrying out its duties, including assistance in the preparation and execution of the comprehensive plan and the adoption of development regulations for Lewis County, Washington.
