Deadline to register for Worm Composting Workshop

Red wigglers can eat a lot of your kitchen waste that they turn into great fertilizer you can add to your household plants and outdoor gardens. The WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter volunteers will share their knowledge about red wigglers at this workshop at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 7 via Zoom. Construction to begin soon on Winlock broadband expansion project
ToledoTel VP-COO Dale Merten addresses the Lewis County Commissioners on the progress of the Winlock-area broadband expansion project Sept. 12. CHEHALIS – A contractor has been selected to begin roadside construction on the Winlock broadband expansion project. The Lewis County Commissioners received the news from ToledoTel Vice President and COO Dale Merten Tuesday morning on their public-private partnership to bring high-speed internet to the area. “In the first week of November, residents will begin to see roadside trenching and boring and there will be equipment and reels of orange conduit placed along roads,” Merten informed the commissioners. “We anticipate being …

Used motor oil can be dropped off at Hazo Hut today
Hazo Hut at the Lewis County Central Transfer Station, 1411 S. Tower Ave., Centralia, is open today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to accept unwanted household chemicals, up to 10 burned out fluorescent lights and up to 5 gallons of used motor oil or antifreeze. Hazo Hut is open every Wednesday and the first and the third Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
