Myriophyllum aquaticum Parrotfeather - An escaped ornamental that is submerged until it grows long enough to reach the surface where it will then have emergent leaves. This plant has a unique highly hydrophobic property that allows its leaves to hold bubbles of air.Leaves: Featherlike with whorled formation of 4 to 6 leaves. Community Recycle Event scheduled for Napavine-Winlock area
Lewis County residents will have an opportunity to properly dispose of household hazardous waste and recycle several items for free at a special event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 10 at the Lewis County Road Shop, 111 Pleasant Valley Road, Winlock, WA 98596. They can bring in up to 10 fluorescent lights, 5 gallons of motor oil, 5 gallons of antifreeze, and 5 gallons of cooking oil per household. No containers larger than 5 gallons will be accepted. Lewis County transfer stations in Centralia and Morton are closed all major holidays. They are closed today, Monday, Feb. 16, in observance of Presidents' Day. They will return to regular hours on Tuesday, Feb. 17.
