County seeks applicants for Public Health & Social Services Advisory Board
The Lewis County Board of Health (BOH) is accepting applications from Lewis County residents interested in serving on the Lewis County Public Health & Social Services (PHSS) Advisory Board. Applications are due by 3:00 pm on Monday, November 3.The eleven-member volunteer board provides recommendations to the Board of Health on a variety of community health, environmental health, and social service issues.Five positions are open: one homeless/housing representative, one medical provider representative, and three at-large members. The Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) is a federal law that prohibits and seeks to eliminate sexual assaults and sexual misconduct in correctional institutions and community corrections settings. Lewis County Juvenile Court is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for youth. We have adopted a zero tolerance policy pertaining to any form of sexual misconduct and sexual harassment of youth. Pleasant Valley Road Shop hosts community recycle event
Lewis County residents will have an opportunity to properly dispose of household hazardous waste and recycle several items for free at a special event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 25 at the Lewis County Road Shop, 111 Pleasant Valley Road, Winlock, WA 98596. Residents can bring in up to 15 fluorescent lights, 5 gallons of motor oil, 5 gallons of antifreeze, and 5 gallons of cooking oil per household. No containers larger than 5 gallons will be accepted. RCW 84.34Land owners who wish current use assessment for property tax purposes on lands eligible for classification under the Open Space program, must submit an application to the Lewis County Assessor's Office by December 31st. Applications taken in the calendar year prior to December 31st are inspected in the next year and either approved or denied. If the application is approved, it is taxed in the subsequent year.
