Lewis County Youth Mentorship Program holds back-to-school event Aug. 10
The Lewis County Youth Mentorship Program invites you, families and local youth to a back-to-school Community Resource Fair and school supply drive from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Aug 10. The events will be held inside the banquet rooms located near TransAlta Commons on the campus of Centralia College, 600 Centralia College Blvd.

Scrap Metal & Appliance Recycling Event
Lewis County residents may recycle scrap metal and household appliances for free at the old solid waste drop box at 1105 Winlock-Vader Road from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 19. Household appliances accepted in the recycling containers at the event include washers, dryers, hot water heaters, and dish washers. Please set refrigerated appliances aside in a designated area at the event. Refrigerated units include refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioning units. Please make sure all appliances recycled are free of garbage and debris. This event is for recycling scrap metal and household appliances. No other materials will be accepted.

The WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter volunteers will share their knowledge about red wigglers at this workshop at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 7 via Zoom. Morton Transfer Station closed
The East Lewis County Transfer Station, 6745 U.S. Hwy 12, Morton, will temporarily be closed every Wednesday and Thursday in July due to staffing shortages. Hours for solid waste disposal and recycling drop off on Monday (except July 4 when it will be closed), Tuesday, Friday and Saturday will be 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with the inbound gates closing at 4:45 p.m. The Lewis County Central Transfer Station, 1411 S. U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency Medicine Collection Day, 10am - 2pm
The DEA is sponsoring an unused medicine collection day. This program is free to the public. The event will take place at the Rochester Community Center located at 10140 U.S. Highway 12, Rochester, WA 98579. The hours of the event are 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. Prescription medications and over the counter solid medications (tablets and capsules) are included in the program. Illegal substances will not be accepted.
