Designated Forest Land
RCW 84.33Land owners who wish current use assessment for property tax purposes on lands eligible for classification under the Designated Forest Land program must submit an application to the Lewis County Assessor's Office by December 31st. Applications taken in the calendar year prior to December 31st are inspected in the next year and either approved or denied. If the application is approved, it is taxed in the subsequent year. LEWIS COUNTY VOLUNTEER GAL PROGRAMThe Lewis County Volunteer Guardian ad Litem Program (GAL) trains volunteers to be Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for children going through dependency court. These volunteers speak in court on the child’s behalf, representing the best interests of the child, and relaying the child’s wishes to the judge. Lewis County Emergency Management strongly recommends all citizens have a weather radio as part of their emergency preparedness kit. Weather radios are equipped with a special alarm tone feature that can sound an alert and give you immediate information about a life-threatening situation. During an emergency, the National Weather Service forecasters will interrupt routine weather radio programming and send out the special tone that activates weather radios in the listening area.
