Lodging Tax Advisory Committee
The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) will meet beginning at 8 a.m. The first 30 minutes of the meeting will be an overview of the presentation process as well as a review of committee expectations.The applicants for 2026 funding will give their presentations beginning at 8:30 a.m.Applicants will be allowed time for a 5-minute presentation, followed by a 9-minute question-and-answer period. Noxious Weeds Have Hit a Spring Time, Grand Slam! Observing local fields, forest edges and roadsides and seeing higher numbers of noxious weeds would suggest the start of a full weed control season. Noxious weeds are known to compete for nutrients and water in our hay fields and pastures. Managing the weeds now, early in the season, will help to insure a good stand of grass for livestock through the summer and for winter forage. Increased weed pressure observed this spring is a result of last summer extended dry period and its detrimental impact to forage grasses. Voids of grasses …

The Construction and Special Programs Section is responsible for the following: Repair stream bank scour and erosion at bridges. Obtain regulatory agencies’ permits. Apply hydraulic techniques to stabilize and restore stream channels. Repair failed roadway prisms due to slides, sink holes, and waterway erosion. Coordinate repairs to river revetments by contractors and the US Army Corps of Engineers. Provide assistance as the Lewis County R.I.D. (Road Improvement District) Coordinator. Develop inventory systems to manage stream related problems. Test all materials for road and bridge construction projects. Provide Quality Assurance on all materials purchased by the County. Residents can drop off their Christmas trees and burned out holiday lights from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, and Jan. 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12 in the parking lot outside the Centralia transfer station at 1411 S. Tower Ave. Only four days left to get your Christmas trees and holiday lights recycled! Please remove all decorations and tinsel from the trees.
