Solid Waste Advisory Committee meets today (2/11)
The Lewis County Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC) meets at 1:00 p.m. the second Wednesday of every other month in the new Lewis County Public Works Building, 57 W. Main St., Chehalis, WA 98532. If a regularly scheduled meeting lands on a holiday, the chairperson may elect to cancel the meeting or members may vote to meet on an alternate date.Meetings are open to the public, and also offered online via Zoom. Wheeled All-Terrain Vehicles (WATVs) on County Roads The Lewis County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) approved Ordinance 1286 on June 4, 2018 in accordance with Chapter 46.09 RCW allowing the operation of WATVs on certain unincorporated county roads with posted speed limits of 35 MPH or less. Lewis County Maintenance & Operations is comprised of two separate divisions; Fleet Services and Road Maintenance. The Fleet Services Division is responsible for purchasing, liquidating, and mechanically maintaining the entire fleet of rolling stock and off road equipment. Currently, Fleet Services maintains and services vehicles at two separate locations. The Road Maintenance Division is responsible for providing cost effective, safe travel over the 1,053 miles of county roadway in Lewis County. Scrap Metal Recycling Event near Vader and Winlock today
Lewis County residents may recycle scrap metal and household appliances for free at the old solid waste drop box at 1105 Winlock-Vader Road from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 7 at a special recycling event organized by the City of Vader and Lewis County Solid Waste Utility. Household appliances accepted in the recycling containers at the event include washers, dryers, hot water heaters, stoves/ranges, and dish washers.
