    Know Your Soil and How to Improve it with Compost!: Attend this WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter workshop at 11 a.m. Feb. 21 at the Centralia Timberland Library to learn how to test your soil. By knowing your soil type (or which nutrients it may be lacking) you can make it better with compost.   3. Hazo Hut can accept used antifreeze from residents today

    Lewis County residents can drop off a maximum of five gallons of used motor oil and up to 10 burned out fluorescent lights at Hazo Hut at the transfer station in Centralia, 1411 S. Tower Ave. Unwanted household chemicals, excluding paint and PaintCare items (Please visit PaintCare.org to learn more about PaintCare items and find out where to drop off PaintCare items locally), and up to five gallons of used antifreeze can also be dropped off. This time is reserved for residential customers only. Business customers must make an appointment by calling 360-740-1221.

    The Master Recycler Composters of Lewis County have officially opened the MRC Tool Bucket Library and the Floral Park Sustainability Park. They are inviting the public to an open house from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 22 at Floral Park Sustainability Project, 103 E. Floral St., Centralia, to learn about both community programs. The tool library is just like a book library, but it offers tools for checkout.
