Friends of Seminary Hill Natural Area will be hosting their annual work day to do maintenance to the Natural Area in Centralia. The event will take place on Saturday, April 23 at 10:00 AM. Location: Seminary Hill Natural Area Parking lot off of East Locust Street & Barner Drive. Effective October 1, 2019, the Lewis County Treasurer’s Office is modifying our hours for the processing of property transfers. While our office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 – 4:30, we will no longer process property transfers after 4:00 p.m.The change in hours will ensure the ability of the Treasurer’s Office to thoroughly review and process real estate transactions and to secure sufficient time to record the documents prior to the Auditor’s Office closing time of 4:30 p.m.Our office will remain open until 4:30 p.m. to process all other transactions.We understand that this may cause some frustration for those …

Landowners are notified of their responsibility to participate in the control of noxious weeds to prevent their spread and establishment on lands within Lewis County per Chapter 17.10 RCW Noxious Weeds – Weed Boards and Chapter 16-750 WAC State Noxious Weed list. Noxious weeds are non-native plants that are highly destructive, competitive and difficult to control or eliminate. They have been introduced accidentally or as ornamentals in peoples' gardens. Some are poisonous to humans and livestock and most grow rapidly and overwhelm desirable vegetation. It is mostly a trailing perennial, though it can grow upright if climbing other plants.Leaves: Opposite and oval shaped. Deputy McKnight Returns to Patrol
Deputy Matt McKnight has been cleared to return to work and will resume normal patrol duties next week. On June 20, 2011, Deputy McKnight, while on duty and assisting the Napavine Police Department with a dispute, was confronted by a volatile suspect. This confrontation resulted in Deputy McKnight shooting the suspect, Steven Petersen, who died at the scene. As a result of this incident, the Regional Sheriff’s Critical Investigative Team was deployed to investigate the incident. Their findings were later turned over to the Lewis County Prosecuting Attorney who made a determination that the use of deadly force by Deputy …
