The Lewis County Solid Waste Utility and the WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter Volunteers will host information booths in the TransAlta Commons today in honor of Earth Day. Stop by to learn about both organization's programs to help you reduce waste, recycle more, compost, clean up litter, and make Lewis County a great place to live.     The Lewis County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan, is a countywide plan that identifies risks and ways to minimize damage by natural and manmade disasters. The plan is a comprehensive resource document that serves many purposes such as enhancing public awareness, creating a decision tool for management, promoting compliance with Washington State and Federal program requirements, enhancing local policies for hazard mitigation capability, and providing inter-jurisdictional coordination.The federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires all local governments to create such a disaster plan in order to qualify for hazard mitigation funding.Lewis County tackled this planning effort on a region wide basis, …

  6. Scrap Metal & Tool Recycling Event in Winlock (5/22)

    Residents may drop off scrap metal and household appliances, such as washers, dryers, hot water heaters, dish washers, stoves, refrigerators, freezers. This event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the old Winlock Drop Box, 1105 Winlock-Vader Road, Winlock, WA 98596.
