Lewis County transfer stations in Centralia and Morton are closed today, Nov. 28, for the Thanksgiving Day holiday. They will return to regular hours on Friday, Nov. 29.

Morton Transfer Station closed
The East Lewis County Transfer Station, 6745 U.S. Hwy 12, Morton, will temporarily be closed every Wednesday and Thursday in July due to staffing shortages. Hours for solid waste disposal and recycling drop off on Monday (except July 4 when it will be closed), Tuesday, Friday and Saturday will be 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with the inbound gates closing at 4:45 p.m. The Lewis County Central Transfer Station, 1411 S. U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency Medicine Collection Day, 10am - 2pm
The DEA is sponsoring an unused medicine collection day. This program is free to the public. The event will take place at the Rochester Community Center located at 10140 U.S. Highway 12, Rochester, WA 98579. The hours of the event are 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. Prescription medications and over the counter solid medications (tablets and capsules) are included in the program. Illegal substances will not be accepted. Motor oil can be dropped off at Hazo Hut today
Lewis County residents can drop off a maximum of five gallons of used motor oil and up to 10 burned out fluorescent lights at Hazo Hut at the transfer station in Centralia, 1411 S. Tower Ave. Unwanted household chemicals, excluding PaintCare items (Please visit PaintCare.org to learn more about PaintCare items and find out where to drop off PaintCare items locally), and up to five gallons of used antifreeze can also be dropped off at this time, too. This time is reserved for residential customers only. Business customers must make an appointment.
