Empty Pesticide Container Recycling Event
Empty Pesticide Container Recycling Event: October 1 & 2, 2018 A recycling event to accept empty pesticide containers will be held October 1 & 2, 2018 from 9AM to 12PM at the Lewis County Solid Waste Services, Central Transfer Station. The Central Transfer Station is located at 1411 South Tower Avenue, in Centralia, WA. The event will accept only empty pesticide containers (jugs, buckets & drums) that are cleaned, triple rinsed with labels and caps removed (no metal or rubber linings). Styrofoam Recycling
Free Styrofoam recycling is taking place at the Central Transfer Station, 1411 S. Tower Ave., Centralia. Styrofoam must be clean, dry, free of all tape and labels. Look for the #6 Recycling Symbol or EPS inside the symbol. If you are unsure, bend the material. It should break, and you will notice individual beads of Styrofoam. Place Styrofoam in clear bags, or place in bag at event. Black or opague bags cannot be accepted. The Lewis County Solid Waste Utility and the WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter Volunteers will host information booths in the TransAlta Commons today in honor of Earth Day. Stop by to learn about both organization's programs to help you reduce waste, recycle more, compost, clean up litter, and make Lewis County a great place to live. Solid Waste Utility staff provides year-round educational programs to the entire community. Transfer Station Tours Solid Waste Utility staff members are available to provide tours of the Centralia Transfer Station in Centralia. Litter Clean-up Programs
Adopt-A-Road Program The Lewis County Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Utility's Adopt-A-Road Program is now available for community groups or like-minded friends and neighbors to pick up litter along county roads. Organizations and individuals can submit an application to adopt a section of road to clean at least four times a year, or sign up for a one-time clean up of a community, neighborhood, or park. Lewis County Community Litter Program The Lewis County Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Utility, operates a litter pick-up program that uses inmate labor from the Lewis County Jail.
