Sheriff's Office Warns of Phone Scam
The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office wants community members to be aware of a scam circulating in our area and learn how to protect themselves from becoming a victim of fraud and identity theft. Deputies have received several reports from citizens that they are receiving random phone calls from very aggressive callers with strong foreign accent/dialects stating they are from the IRS. The callers knew the victim’s names and some other basic information about them making it appear it may really be the IRS calling. The callers advised the victim’s they were being investigated and to avoid “further investigation or arrest” …

Sheriff's Office Unveils New Program
Sheriff Steve Mansfield will be starting a new program at the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office that he hopes will slow down a growing crime trend in Lewis County. The program, “Prevent Crime – Lock Your Doors Every Time,” begins next week. Sheriff Mansfield said, “Recently we have had numerous problems with vehicle prowls in our county. My office has developed an innovative program to help address vehicle prowls and thefts. South County Recycle Event
Lewis County residents will have the opportunity to drop off up to 12 passenger and light truck tires per household, and up to two of the following items per household: computers, televisions under 42 inches, and CPUs.
