Juneteenth is a holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States with enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation freeing the remaining slaves in Texas on June 19, 1865.The city of Centralia is holding a Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 17 at George Washington Park.

Delays expected at Central Transfer Station starting Oct 8, 2018
Expect delays at the Central Transfer Station in Centralia while contractors repair the tipping floor, beginning Oct. 8, 2018, through the end of November. Customers wanting to avoid the construction will be directed to another disposal location at the transfer station. An alternative during construction would be to call LeMay Enterprises and subscribe to curbside service at your place of residence. For curbside service, please call LeMay Enterprises, 360-736-4769.

Lewis County’s Central Transfer Station Closed Saturday, August 19, for Scale Replacement
The Central Transfer Station, 1411 S. Tower Ave., Centralia, will be closed Saturday, August 19, for scale replacement. The East Lewis County Transfer Station, 6745 US Highway 12, Morton, will be open Aug. 19, 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., for those who need disposal and recycling services. Central Transfer Station’s normal hours will resume Monday, Aug. 21, 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. For more information, call 360-740-1403 or 360-740-1481.

Sensitive Document Shredding
The mobile shredding truck will be at the Leaf Exchange Event in the parking lot before you enter the Lewis County Central Transfer Station, 1411 S. Tower Ave., Centralia from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents may bring up to 3 bags or boxes or sensitive documents they would like to have shredded. There is no charge for this service. The shredded paper will be recycled at a paper recycling facility.
