Hazo Hut is open today (June 28)
Residents may drop of household hazardous waste for free from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Lewis County Central Transfer Station, 1411 S. Tower Ave., Centralia. Examples of household hazardous materials that can be dropped off are cleaners, lawn, garden, pool chemicals, and up to 10 burned out fluorescent lights. Hazo Hut is open every Wednesday, and the first and third Saturday of each month, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, please call 360-740-1221 or email swu@lewiscountywa.gov with questions.

Sensitive Document Shredding Event, Morton
The LeMay Mobile Shredding Truck will be in the parking lot of Centralia College East, 701 Airport Way, Morton, WA 98356, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in conjunction with the Repair & Sustainability Fair, East End Edition. Residents may bring up to 3 bags or boxes or sensitive documents they would like to have shredded. There is no charge for this service. The shredded paper will be recycled at a paper recycling facility. Support for this event is provided in part by the Department of Ecology.

Scrap Metal & Tool Recycling Event in Winlock (5/22)
Residents may drop off scrap metal and household appliances, such as washers, dryers, hot water heaters, dish washers, stoves, refrigerators, freezers. This event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the old Winlock Drop Box, 1105 Winlock-Vader Road, Winlock, WA 98596. Residents may drop off used motor oil at Hazo Hut today
Lewis County residents can drop off unwanted household chemicals, up to five gallons of used motor oil, and up to 10 burned out fluorescent light bulbs at Hazo Hut at the Lewis County Central Transfer Station, 1411 S. Tower Ave., Centralia, today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. These are the limits for each household each day that the Hazo Hut is open. This time is reserved for residential customers only. Business customers must make an appointment by calling 360-740-1221.

Design
The Engineering Design Section develops roadway designs using local and state guidelines required for traffic volume, terrain, design speed, safety features, storm water runoff, and environmental concerns. Design production may be handled in-house or by contractors. Designs for new bridges are contracted to a structural engineer. Once the designs are complete, staff members help prepare contract specifications for open and competitive bidding by road and bridge construction companies. Inspection of contractors' construction operation are also handled by the staff from the Design, Construction, and Survey Sections.
