    Adopt-A-Road Program The Lewis County Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Utility's Adopt-A-Road Program is now available for community groups or like-minded friends and neighbors to pick up litter along county roads. Organizations and individuals can submit an application to adopt a section of road to clean at least four times a year, or sign up for a one-time clean up of a community, neighborhood, or park.     Volunteers in the cities of Chehalis, Centralia, and sometimes other communities in Lewis County organize volunteers to pick up litter. The city of Chehalis has a group of active volunteers called the Chehalis Clean Team. They have a group on Facebook under their name: Chehalis Clean Team and you can get more information from the city of Chehalis website: Chehalis Clean Team. In Centralia, the group of volunteers is the Centralia Clean Team. They have an active group on Facebook under Centralia Clean Team.

  3. Community Recycle Events, Repair & Sustainability Fair, Workshops

    Lewis County is working with cities and communities to offer free recycling events and opportunities to properly dispose of certain materials. Please see the Schedule of Events for 2026 listed below.The events are offered to Lewis County residents only, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. If some recycling containers fill up on the day of the event, that particular recycling opportunity may be closed due to storage and space limitations.   4. Chips for Trails Event in Vader

    The City of Vader is hosting its annual Chips for Trails Event at McMurphy Park on Annonen Road from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 19. Lewis County residents can drop off chippable branches and limbs that are no larger than 6 inches in diameter. This material will be chipped to spread on park trails.     Plan to attend Tools, Treasures & Treats, the Master Recycler Composters of Lewis County's first tool and bake sale to raise money to support the new MRC Tool Bucket Library. The two-day event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 10 and 11 at the Floral Park Sustainability Park, 103 E. Floral St., Centralia. Donated tools will be for sale as well as items baked by local volunteers. On Oct. 11, a cider press event will take place.
