  6. K-9 Narcotics Sniff Leads to Arrest

    On 06-01-2024, at approximately 9:21 p.m., deputies with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop in the 400 block of State Route 505, Winlock. Deputy Kasinger and his K-9 partner Kimbo were requested to respond to the scene for a narcotics sniff, and upon being deployed K-9 Kimbo alerted on the vehicle. A search warrant was applied for and granted, resulting in the recovery of over 41 grams of methamphetamine and a meth pipe. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody.   7. Weed Management on the Farm

    A workshop addressing weed management on farm will take place on May 25, 2017, 6PM at the Lewis County Courthouse, in Chehalis. The two hour program will address weed control methods for some of the noxious weeds found in our area. Topics include: weed identification in annual and perennial cropping systems, integrated weed management strategies, poisonous weeds and where to find resource information about weed control. The program also qualifies for Washington State Dept. of Agriculture Recertification credits (2) for individuals who are licensed applicators. The program is sponsored by WSU Lewis County Extension.     Diversion is an option to deal with a first or a minor offense a youth has committed where they wish to take responsibility for their action and make amends. They do not have to go to court or go before a judge. A meeting would be set up with a probation officer to provide an opportunity for youth to sign a diversion agreement. The diversion agreement can require the juvenile to complete community service, counseling, classes, and/or restitution to name a few.
