Sheriff's Office Looking for Reserve Deputies
The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Centralia Police Department, will be tentatively hosting a Reserve Law Enforcement Academy from April 5th through September 3rd, 2016. This program, sponsored through the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission, certifies individuals to become reserve deputies and officers throughout Washington State. The Reserve Academy requires a minimum of 249.5 hours of course work, and is a condensed version of the 720 hour academy required by full-time law enforcement officers. Sheriff's Office Offers New Tool for Victims of Lost Property
The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office has developed a new tool that will, hopefully, aid in helping citizens claim their lost property. Citizens who have lost property in Lewis County can now go to the LCSO website to see if their property has been turned in. The website address is: http://lewiscountywa.gov/sheriff/found-property. Property Director Isabelle Williams said, “It is our goal to get property back to its rightful owner. We get a great deal of satisfaction and sense of accomplishment returning property to its owner – especially those treasured items that are irreplaceable and that they thought were lost forever." Ryan Barrett CHEHALIS- After an extensive nationwide search, the Lewis County Commissioners have selected an individual with local roots as their next County Manager.The commissioners offered their top position Wednesday to Ryan Barrett, a former Lewis County Sheriff’s Office lieutenant who now oversees more than 100 employees as a captain with the South Correctional Entity in Des Moines, Wash. Passing of K-9 Axel
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of LCSO K-9 Axel, who served our community from February 2013 until his retirement in August of 2021.Over the course of his career, K-9 Axel and his handler, now-Chief Rick Van Wyck, are credited with the successful capture of 39 suspects and the location of 117 articles of evidence and/or stolen property, as well as the discovery of 397.3 pounds of street drugs and over 1,600 Oxycodone pills, with a total value of over four million dollars.K-9 Axel passed away at home peacefully while surrounded by the Van Wyck family, on August …

Sheriff's Office Unveils New Program
Sheriff Steve Mansfield will be starting a new program at the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office that he hopes will slow down a growing crime trend in Lewis County. The program, “Prevent Crime – Lock Your Doors Every Time,” begins next week. Sheriff Mansfield said, “Recently we have had numerous problems with vehicle prowls in our county. My office has developed an innovative program to help address vehicle prowls and thefts.
