About SWAC The Lewis County Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC) serves in an advisory capacity in the development of programs and policies concerning solid waste handling and disposal and to review and comment upon proposed rules, policies, or ordinances prior to their adoption (RCW 70A.205.110). The SWAC also assists Lewis County Solid Waste Utility staff in the development of a five-year “Solid Waste Management Plan” to help guide how Lewis County manages garbage and recycling now, and into the future.SWAC members are citizens, members of public interest groups, professionals from the business and agricultural community, operators of solid waste collection …

Registration Deadline for Composting Education Workshops
The WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter (MRC) Volunteers will offer a series of composting workshops on May 20 at Salkum Library, 2480 US Hwy 12. Basic Composting will take place from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; Worm Composting will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and Know Your Soils will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The general public is invited to attend any one of the workshops, or all of them. Residents can drop off their Christmas trees and burned out holiday lights starting today, Saturday and Sunday of this week from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot outside the Centralia transfer station at 1411 S. Tower Ave. The event will continue for three consecutive weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). Please remove all decorations and tinsel from the trees. Donations will be accepted to support WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter volunteer community outreach programs. Flocked and artificial trees will not be accepted.
