Residents can recycle motor oil today at Hazo Hut
Hazo Hut at the Lewis County Central Transfer Station, 1411 S. Tower Ave., Centralia, is open today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Residential customers can drop off the following items for free up to 5 gallons of used motor oil or antifreeze, leftover household chemicals, and a maximum of 10 burned out fluorescent lights. The household hazardous waste collection facility is open every Wednesday and the first and third Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

11-Year-Old Tacoma Boy Drowns in Cowlitz River, Randle
On Saturday, July 6, 2024, at approximately 10:58 a.m., Lewis County deputies and members of the Swift Water Rescue Team responded to the 200 block of Burton Creek Road in Randle, Washington, in reference to a reported drowning. Deputies learned that an 11-year-old boy, who was wearing his life jacket, had been paddleboarding with his father in the Cowlitz River near Carr Road when he struck a logjam and fell off the paddleboard. Community Recycle Event in Randle
Lewis County residents will have an opportunity to recycle scrap metal, appliances, and passenger and light truck tires at a Community Recycle Event in Randle from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 13 at the intersection of U.S. Forest Service Road 47 and Silverbrook Road, next to Mount Adams Riding Club entrance. This event is being offered on a first-come, first-served basis. When the containers are full, they will be closed. Lewis County transfer stations in Centralia and Morton are open today, Jan. 2, 2023. The administration office in Centralia, however, is not open today in observance of the New Year's Day holiday. The administration office will return to regular hours on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

Transfer stations in Centralia and Morton are open regular hours today. The Lewis County Solid Waste Utility Administration Office, however, is closed today in observance of the Christmas Day holiday. The administration office will resume regular hours on Tuesday.
