1. Residents can recycle motor oil today at Hazo Hut

    Hazo Hut at the Lewis County Central Transfer Station, 1411 S. Tower Ave., Centralia, is open today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Residential customers can drop off the following items for free up to 5 gallons of used motor oil or antifreeze, leftover household chemicals, and a maximum of 10 burned out fluorescent lights. The household hazardous waste collection facility is open every Wednesday and the first and third Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  3. 11-Year-Old Tacoma Boy Drowns in Cowlitz River, Randle

    On Saturday, July 6, 2024, at approximately 10:58 a.m., Lewis County deputies and members of the Swift Water Rescue Team responded to the 200 block of Burton Creek Road in Randle, Washington, in reference to a reported drowning. Deputies learned that an 11-year-old boy, who was wearing his life jacket, had been paddleboarding with his father in the Cowlitz River near Carr Road when he struck a logjam and fell off the paddleboard.
