Free Styrofoam recycling is taking place at the Central Transfer Station, 1411 S. Tower Ave., Centralia. Styrofoam must be clean, dry, free of all tape and labels. Look for the #6 Recycling Symbol or EPS inside the symbol. If you are unsure, bend the material. It should break, and you will notice individual beads of Styrofoam. Noxious weeds are growing faster than you think! Multiple days of good spring weather in Western Washington may help pesky weeds get the jump on local farmers in their pastures, forest and gardens. Germination of seed and growth of weeds are very temperature dependent. The optimum temperature for germination varies for individual weeds but many can germinate at low soil temperatures with adequate soil moisture. CHEHALIS – Lewis County youth are receiving a profound, potentially life-changing gift from others in the community through the Lewis County Youth Mentorship Program. The Lewis County Juvenile Justice Center in Chehalis is where adult volunteers are being trained to best assist young people in conquering a variety of obstacles in their lives.The Lewis County Commissioners earmarked $500,000 of American Rescue Plan Act funds to support a countywide youth mentoring program through 2026.Fourteen volunteer mentors are trained, and have been matched with 20 local youth.
