Public hearing on Packwood Subarea Plan
The Packwood Subarea Plan is the subject of a public hearing before the Planning Commission. The hearing will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12 at the Packwood Community Hall. Before the hearing, at 5 p.m. there will be an open house where people can learn about the plan and ask questions of staff.

Lewis County Community Development seeks consultant to assist with comprehensive plan update
CHEHALIS - Lewis County and all cities in the county are required by the Washington State Growth Management Act to update their comprehensive plans. The Lewis County Comprehensive Plan identifies a vision for the future for the community, and establishes a set of long-term goals, policies and land use patterns for growth over a 20-year period. Updates will include changes to the zoning map and development regulations. The updates must be completed by June 2025.In July, the county expects to receive a grant from the Washington State Department of Commerce to fund the mandated updates. Lewis County Emergency Management strongly recommends all citizens have a weather radio as part of their emergency preparedness kit. Weather radios are equipped with a special alarm tone feature that can sound an alert and give you immediate information about a life-threatening situation. During an emergency, the National Weather Service forecasters will interrupt routine weather radio programming and send out the special tone that activates weather radios in the listening area. Lewis County Health Officer reports new state facemask recommendations
Lewis County Health Officer Dr. Joe Wiley, MD. Fleet Services Division is responsible for purchasing, liquidating, and mechanically maintaining vehicles and heavy equipment for all departments throughout the County fleet. The fleet's maintenance locations are comprised of two separate repair facilities. Weed Management on the Farm
A workshop addressing weed management on farm will take place on May 25, 2017, 6PM at the Lewis County Courthouse, in Chehalis. The two hour program will address weed control methods for some of the noxious weeds found in our area. Topics include: weed identification in annual and perennial cropping systems, integrated weed management strategies, poisonous weeds and where to find resource information about weed control. The program also qualifies for Washington State Dept. of Agriculture Recertification credits (2) for individuals who are licensed applicators. The program is sponsored by WSU Lewis County Extension.
