Free Tire Recycling Event
A free tire recycling event will take place Nov. 5, 6 and 7 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily at the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds, 2555 N. National Ave., Chehalis. The event will accept 15 tires per person. Acceptable tires include: passenger and light truck tires on or off the rim, and semi-truck tires off the rim. The tires must be from residential customers with Lewis County addresses only. Please be prepared to show ID. Lewis County Seeks Consultant for Comprehensive Plan Update
Lewis County and all cities in the county are required by the Washington State Growth Management Act to update their comprehensive plans. The Lewis County Comprehensive Plan identifies a vision for the future for the community, and establishes a set of long-term goals, policies and land use patterns for growth over a 20-year period. Updates will include changes to the zoning map and development regulations. The updates must be completed by June 2025. A subarea plan is a road map that guides how a specific geography, like Packwood, will grow and develop over the next 20 years. The plan states a vision, goals, and policies for the area. The plan gets adopted as part of the Lewis County Comprehensive Plan and is used to determine updates to zoning maps and development regulations, as well as capital facilities plans for infrastructure like sewer or water.
