CHEHALIS – The Lewis County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) has approved amendments to regulations for RV parks and campgrounds in the county. The most significant change streamlines the process for permitting.

No longer is a Binding Site Plan necessary for development of new RV parks or campgrounds. A Special Use Permit (SUP) and a State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) review are the only requirements.

“This change will significantly reduce the permitting time for RV park developers and for staff reviewing the permits,” said Lewis County Planner Preston Pinkston.

“This is a great example of staff proactively looking for a way to streamline permitting,” Lewis County Commissioner Scott Brummer said.

The new rules also allow cabins and yurts to be built, permit supporting services such as a convenience store or laundromat, and increase how long an RV park owner may allow people to stay from 180 days to 210 days.
