Lewis County law enforcement officers and others run in support of Special Olympians

NAPAVINE - Jogging for a cause, on a street near you, are Lewis County Commissioner Sean Swope, Lewis County Sheriff Rob Snaza and 20th District State Rep. Peter Abbarno.

The annual Lewis County Law Enforcement Torch Run in support of Washington Special Olympics and local Special Olympics athletes is taking place on roads throughout Lewis County. The June 2 event, from Napavine to Fort Borst Park in Centralia, involves an estimated 85 runners. Taking part were several dozen Lewis County law enforcement officers and as many as 35 local Special Olympics athletes.

Walkers joined the event in both downtown Centralia and Chehalis.

The torch run raises donations to pay for training, uniform and travel expenses for Lewis County Special Olympics athletes attending the Washington State Special Olympics Spring Games, June 16-18 on the campus of Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma.
