CHEHALIS – Lewis County has received a clean audit of financial statements in a recent analysis by the Washington State Auditor.

In looking at a variety of local and federal financial documents between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2022, Lead Auditor Melissa Dixon told the Lewis County Commissioners, “We did not identify any concerns with county processes – the county complied in all material aspects of the audit.”

“The county also received a clean audit in regard to compliance with federal grant requirements,” Dixon added. “All monies were expended within intended purposes.”

Dixon commended the timely and organized work of Lewis County Chief Accountant Grace Jimenez and county auditor staff in providing documentation, answering questions and audit requests.

"You’re doing a fantastic job,” Lewis County Commissioner Sean Swope said of Auditor Larry Grove’s staff.

“The clean state audit report is a testament to our staff and how careful they are with our tax dollars,” Commissioner Lindsey Pollock added.

Later this year the county will undergo an accountability audit to assure financial controls are in place and that county policy and procedures and procurement programs are in compliance with Washington state laws.
