On the Washington State and National registry of historic places, the Lewis County Courthouse at 351 NW North St. in Chehalis is receiving its spring cleaning over the next several weeks.

With the assistance of a grant from the Washington State Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation, the exterior of the 96 year old courthouse is getting pressure washed and a sealer is being applied to the sandstone structure.

"It's essential to maintain the integrity of the material that was used when the courthouse was first constructed," Lewis County Capital Facilities Manager Doug Carey said.

Cleaning and necessary repairs are expected to be completed by the end of May.
