CHEHALIS – Construction of a new East Lewis County Sheriff’s Office Substation is underway on county-owned property at 8911 U.S. Highway 12, west of Randle. Midway Underground, a Toledo construction company, is building the 12-by 36-foot office with four adjoining vehicle bays at the Kiona county public works shop site.

“It will place a Sheriff’s footprint in the east end of the county, housing emergency equipment for deputies and first responders providing search and rescue operations,” said Lewis County Sheriff Rob Snaza. “Citizens will be able to meet with deputies and receive law enforcement resources in east county that are currently offered at the Law and Justice Center in Chehalis.”

“I’m excited to be here and break ground on a great facility that the Sheriff’s department will be able to use to keep the residents of east Lewis County safe,” said Lewis County Commissioner Scott Brummer. “We support our law enforcement, our Sheriff and all of our deputies that are out here keeping us safe and we want them to have the best facilities possible.”

Sheriff Snaza said the substation will be staffed by Sheriff’s support staff several days a week. The new facility is expected to be in operation by the spring of 2024.
