CHEHALIS – All in a days’ work for Lewis County Commissioner Scott Brummer, was a recent visit to a forest products mill, a timber sale site on the Cowlitz Ranger District, and local hydroelectric facilities.

Commissioner Brummer and U.S. Congresswoman Marie Gluesenkamp-Perez stopped by the Alta Forest Products’ western red cedar mill in Morton, a Gifford-Pinchot National Forest timber harvest and met with officials from the U.S. Forest Service and Washington State Department of Natural Resources.

In addition, they were guests of Tacoma Public Utilities for a tour of Mossyrock Dam and Mayfield Dam on Thursday, Aug. 10.

The dams are part of the Cowlitz River Project, which was built in the 1960s and is Tacoma Power’s largest hydroelectric facility. The utility reports the project produces enough clean, reliable electricity each year to serve more than 150,000 homes.
