Video Appearance Links for Civil Hearings

This page contains links to appear remotely via Webex at certain civil motion hearings. You may not appear by video for name change or small claims matters. These links are also not for use to appear remotely at protection order hearings.

You will need to know which judicial officer will be hearing your case so you can choose the appropriate link. You must contact the court at least 48 hours in advance of your hearing to verify the judicial officer and to notify the court of your intent to appear via video. Failure to notify the court of your intent to appear via video may result in the court not activating Webex and the docket being heard without you present. (Webex is not automatically initiated for every calendar.)

No exhibits or other documents will be accepted electronically. If you intend to present evidence other than oral testimony, you must be physically present in the courtroom and may not utilize video appearance. You must also ensure the court has hard copies of proposed orders for entry at your hearing. Failure to provide an order could result in a continuance of the hearing.

If you choose to appear remotely and would like copies of any documents from your hearing, you may obtain them by coming to Lewis County District Court for a hard copy or using the contact form located at the bottom of this page to request to have a copy emailed to you. The contact form must be completed in its entirety.

Things to know before appearing remotely:

  • Participation shall be by both audio and video. Appearance by audio only is not allowed.
  • Failure of a litigant’s computer equipment to connect to the court’s system is not a reason to continue the matter.
  • All original documents must be physically filed in accordance with court rules, to include proposed orders. No documents may be filed via email, fax or any other electronic means.
  • Other court rules remain in effect. Litigants are to be on time, properly attired, and may not connect to the court in an environment that creates distractions (i.e. a busy office with excessive noise and/or people moving around in the background). Participants should remember they are in a courtroom, even though appearing remotely, and must act appropriately.
