Board seeks applications for use of 2021 hotel / motel lodging tax funds

The Board of County Commissioners is accepting – on behalf of the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) – applications for the use of lodging tax funds for the 2021 budget year from organizations whose programs or activities promote tourism in the unincorporated areas of Lewis County.

"Tourism promotion" means activities, operations and expenditures designed to increase tourism, including but not limited to advertising, publicizing or otherwise distributing information for the purpose of attracting and welcoming tourists; developing strategies to expand tourism; operating tourism promotion agencies; and funding the marketing of or the operation of special events and festivals designed to attract tourists.

The application deadline has been extended to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020. Applications received after the deadline will not be accepted.

The application is an online document located here:

Because the Formstack portal does not allow applicants to save their work in intervals, BOCC staff members have also created a Word version of the application (click here for the Word version). Applicants can use the Word version to formulate – and save – their responses. Once satisfied they’ve gathered all of their information, applicants will need to copy and paste their information from the Word document into the Formstack fields. Please note that applications will not be accepted in any form other than through Formstack, and applications will not be accepted after the 3 p.m. Oct. 8 deadline.

Lodging Tax Advisory Committee members will conduct in-person presentations (with a Zoom option for those who prefer to attend virtually) Oct. 29 and 30 in the Commissioners’ Hearing Room. Applicants will be allowed time for a 5-minute presentation, followed by a 9-minute question-and-answer period. BOCC staff will announce the presentation schedule no later than Oct. 17. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, in-person audience attendance likely will be very limited.
