New Additions to the Washington State Noxious Weed List 2018
Invasive plants harm our state’s farms, economy and native ecosystems, and we all share responsibility for working to prevent, control and, where possible, eradicate them. Learning how to recognize noxious weeds is a basic element of good stewardship of our natural resources.
New weed additions include:
Small-flowered Jewleweed, Impatiens parviflora as a Class A noxious weed
European coltsfoot, Tussilago farfara as a Class B designate weed
Malta starthistle, Centaurea melitensis as a Class B designate weed
Spotted jewelweed, Impatiens capensis as a Class C weed
Eurasian watermilfoil hybrid, Myriophyllum spicatum x M. Sibiricum as a Class C weed.
For more information about these weeds contact the Washington State Noxious Weed Control Board at: WWW.nwcb.wa.gov or the Lewis County Noxious Weed Control Board at 360 740 1215.
The additions to the weed list were made at the November, 2017 meeting of the Washington State Noxious Weed Control Board. The Board maintains the state's official list of noxious weeds that landowners may be required to control. This list is established in the Washington Administrative Code, or WAC 16-750.
