Each year the WIC Nutrition Program develops a plan for providing services in Washington. The WIC State Plan is a requirement for all WIC state agencies from the United States Department of Agriculture. The plan explains how we will use our federal funds to provide healthy foods, nutrition support and education, breastfeeding support, and referrals for other services, to qualified families in Washington. As we work on refining our program plan for next year, we invite comments on WIC services.

Every year, Washington WIC provides over $109 million worth of nutritious food to more than 274,888 women and children. More than 44 percent of all infants born in Washington receive benefits from the WIC nutrition program.
To make it easier for Washington families to make healthy choices, WIC provides a broad range of services from healthy foods and nutrition education to help with getting preventive health services like prenatal care, immunizations, dental care, and family planning. Breastfeeding promotion and support are also important program priorities.
