Lewis County Juvenile Court believes that physical exercise should be incorporated into everyday life. We strive to educate our youth on how to use their own body weight to get exercise daily.Exercise has proven to help decrease anxiety and depression while improving mood and quality of sleep. Therefore, exercise not only benefits your physical body, but it also influences your mental health in a positive way.Here at Lewis County Juvenile Court, we teach our youth Tabata style workouts. The WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter (MRC) Volunteers will offer a series of composting workshops on May 20 at Salkum Library, 2480 US Hwy 12. Basic Composting will take place from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; Worm Composting will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and Know Your Soils will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The general public is invited to attend any one of the workshops, or all of them. For participants interested in becoming an MRC volunteers, this is the second section of the training program. (A final session, focused on recycling, …

MANDATORY BOATING SAFETY EDUCATION CLASS OFFERED
Mandatory Boating Safety Education became a reality for Washington Boaters starting January of 2008. Boaters under the age of 26 years old are now required to possess a valid boating safety card when operating a vessel with a motor of 15 horsepower or greater. Deputies from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a Safety Education class on Saturday, June 5th. The class will be offered from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office Training Room, located on the first floor of the Law and Justice Center, 345 West Main Street in Chehalis.
