Meet Rose Bowman - Lewis County Treasurer

Rose Bowman, the incumbent Lewis County Treasurer, took office January 1995, and is the 27th treasurer to serve since 1850. She ran unopposed for the position in the 1998, 2002, and 2006 election years. She chairs the County Finance Committee and served as facilitator for the County Executive Steering Committee 1996-2006. County elected officials the Chief of Staff and department directors are members of the Executive Steering Committee.

When Lewis County converted their Property Tax Assessment & Collection software to ASCEND in 1998, Rose took a lead role in forming a User's Group and became that group's first president. The ASCEND software application is now installed in county offices in Washington, Oregon, Missouri, Nevada, Colorado and Illinois.

She is past president of the Washington State Association of County Treasurers an affiliate organization of Washington Association of County Officials. Rose has served as the Legislative Chair for that Association since 1996 except for the year of her presidency.

Rose served as the 20th district State Representative from 1989 - 1992. While serving in the State House of Representatives committee assignments were: Appropriations, Rules, Capital Facilities and Finance, Government Operations - among others. The House Republican Caucus, who has seven elected caucus leadership positions, elected Ms. Bowman Minority Whip.

Rose and her husband, Leon, have lived in Lewis County since 1965. They have three grown children and four grandchildren. They have owned and operated their own small business since 1968. Rose is past president of the Washington Automotive Wholesalers Association and was recognized in 1991 as their “Industry Leader Of The Year” – their highest honor. Governor Booth Gardner appointed Rose to the Washington State Small Business Council and she was a major organizer of the First Washington State Small Business Conference.

Treasurer Bowman has been an active part of the volunteer community since moving to Lewis County. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Economic Development Council, The Lewis County Historical Society, Pope’s Kids Place – to name a few. Her current involvements are the Centralia College Foundation Board of Directors and Chehalis Rotary Club – President 2004-2005 - currently serving on the board of Directors as Foundation Director.

Rose has served as the auction coordinator for the Lewis County Rotary Foundation since 1998. The Foundation is an organization of the Centralia, Chehalis, & Twin Cities Rotary Clubs. As of 2004 the Foundation has raised and donated over $460,000 to projects in Lewis County for kids and families including Leko the Sheriff's Dog, Pope’s Kids Place, Lewis County Habitat for Humanity, Washington Business Week In School Program, The Veteran’s Memorial Museum, Civil Air Patrol, Valley View Health Center, Human Response Network and Lewis County Foodbank Coalition.
