    Lewis County business offices, including the Lewis County Solid Waste Utility Administration Office at the transfer station in Centralia, are closed today in observance of the Veterans Day holiday. The transfer stations in Centralia and Morton, however, are open today. Lewis County transfer stations in Centralia and Morton will be closed on the actual Veterans Day holiday, Saturday, Nov. 11.

    Lewis County Sheriff’s Office detectives responded on 04/07/11, at approximately 1730 hours, to the Morton area in reference to human skeletal remains being found by a citizen. A man called 911 to report he had pulled off the highway to take a break. As he got out of his car he noticed skeletal remains of a human, off the side of the road. The surrounding area is a rural wooded area. The gender, age, and how long the remains have been there is unknown at this time.
