Mental Health

The State Department of Health has defined mental illness as a public health issue.  The Lewis County Public Health and Social Services Department created a Mental Health Liaison position with the primary role to provide leadership in improving mental and behavioral health services in Lewis County. Individual counseling is not available. The mental health liaison:

  • Facilitates monthly Mental Health Coalition meetings
  • Collaborates with state and local agency mental health providers
  • Provides technical assistance for community programs
  • Publishes quarterly mental health newsletters
  • Speaks about mental health issues to community organizations
