Guardian Ad Litem (GAL)

The Lewis County Volunteer Guardian ad Litem Program (GAL) trains volunteers to be Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for children going through dependency court. These volunteers speak in court on the child’s behalf, representing the best interests of the child, and relaying the child’s wishes to the judge. The GAL also makes recommendations for services that will help the child and the family towards possible reunification, or to find an alternate safe and permanent home for the child.
