Food Worker Classes

The Washington State Food Worker Card is required for all food service employees. The Food Worker Class covers the basic food safety information from the Food Code that every food worker needs to know before working with food that is served to the public.

When and Where

The food worker's classes are held every Tuesday @ 9am, Thursday @ 3pm, and the first Wednesday of each month @ 7pm in the basement of the Historic Courthouse, Room 003, at 351 NW North Street, Chehalis. The cost is $10.00 cash or check.

Quarterly food worker's classes are offered at White Pass High School. Contact the Health Department to see when the next class is scheduled: (360) 740-1222.

Study guides are available on the third floor of the Public Health Building for $1.00 or on the DOH Website

Expiration and Renewal

Initial Food Worker cards are good for two years.

Renewals are good for three years. All renewals must now take the food worker's class again. This is due to a new state requirement that there be a minimum of 30 minutes of education provided before taking the exam. Make sure to bring your old card with you and to take the class before your old card expires!

Five year cards are available for those who have taken an approved advanced food safety class such as ServeSafe. Call (360) 740-1222 for more information.

Sponsored Classes

The WSU Extension Office will arrange special classes for groups of twenty or more. For more information call Sheila Gray, Extension Director, at (360) 740-1212.

Duplicates

Duplicates and copies are available for current card holders who have taken the class in Lewis County. There is no charge for a copy and duplicates are $1.
