WF West HS Mock DUI Crash

On 04/28/11 folks with Lewis County Fire District 6, Chehalis Fire Department, Winlock PD, Lews County Sheriff's Office, Washignton State Patrol, Lewis County Coroner's Office and the Lewis County Prosecutor's Office participated in a mock crash at WF West HS. There were other participants including the Chaplains, LIVE 95, Dr. Reiswig from Providence Emergency Room, as well as one mom who had lost a child in a crash.

The kids got to see a re-eneactment of crash where four people were killed and the student driver was arrested for vehicluar homicide. They also heard from respresentativesof each agency who basically reminded them that choices have consequences.

The crowd stopper was Joyce McCoy who told the story of losing her daughter in a car crash. Not a sound was heard in the packed stands as she spoke to the students about what impact that had on her life.

This office is proud to be a part of such community involvement because it has the potential to have students think before they act. DUI deaths are preventable and are strictly all about making the right choices.
