Health Department Classes: When and Where The in-person food worker card classes have been canceled until further notice.Food worker cards can still be obtained online at www.foodworkercard.wa.gov. Please call 360-740-1231 if you have any questions or concerns.Study guides are available on the DOH Website. Expiration and Renewal Initial Food Worker cards are good for two years, while renewals are good for three years. Washington State Retail Food Code The Washington State Retail Food Code addresses current foodborne illness risks and the best methods for prevention in restaurants and many other types of food service establishments.Most food establishments are now required to have a Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) on staff. The CFPM must train each person in charge of implementing relevant food safety procedures. State Extends Timeline for Retail Food Code Revision Input
Due to the impacts of COVID-19, the Washington State Board of Health (BOH) has extended the deadline for additional public input into changes to the state’s Retail Food Code (WAC 246-215). Public comment will now be accepted until September 29, 2020.BOH is required by law to update the Retail Food Code periodically to ensure it addresses current foodborne illness risks and best methods of prevention.
