Shop'n Kart store management chose to discard many cakes and cupcakes last week due to an employee receiving a positive test for Hepatitis A. After further testing, it has been determined that the original test was a false positive. Even though it was a false postive, Shop'n Kart's management went above and beyond working with the Health Department to ensure their employees and customers were protected. Please share widely that their bakery items are safe to eat!
The Washington Department of Ecology seeks public comment on the Fire Mountain Farms application for coverage under the General Biosolids Permit and further conditions that will be placed upon them in a Final Coverage Letter prepared by Ecology on September 21, 2016.
A Lewis County resident is receiving treatment to prevent rabies infection after exposure to a bat which tested positive for the disease. Lewis County Public Health & Social Services received notification of the test result on Friday, July 22. This is the first rabid bat found in the county since 2011.
