A Lewis County resident is receiving treatment to prevent rabies infection after exposure to a bat which tested positive for the disease. Lewis County Public Health & Social Services received notification of the test result on Friday, July 22. This is the first rabid bat found in the county since 2011.
Recent weather has led to power outages in some parts of Lewis County. Lewis County Public Health & Social Services advises all residents to take steps to stay safe and avoid carbon monoxide poisoning and food poisoning. See attached News Release.
